AI produces slop. I’m not here to dismiss that but I am here to shine a light on the hidden frames of the bigger picture.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) + AI OG (Authentic Intelligence) = PI (Peak Innovation).
AI at its core is an over optimized talent scout and beauty pageant judge that’s been taught and trained on millions of history’s finest arts and has been indoctrinated on ‘this is what humans consider good’, ‘this is what humans think is bad’, so on the pure fundamentals of design principles and beauty standards, no life form is more knowledgeable. So when it comes to grading papers, correcting your grammar, or breaking down why your unsolicited think piece on AI isn’t cutting edge, it has a keen ability to do all those at an optimal level.
AI has a PhD on quality assurance. But unfortunately it got its PhD while falling asleep in arts and crafts, simply because it doesn’t have the capacity to create anything that it hasn’t consumed. Slop is the derivative of that. And of course, AI can and will never understand the nuances of the ever so shifting human experience. So to echo the sound bites of the AI skeptics club just in my vernacular, ‘AI is nothing without AI OG’.
But as my makeshift formula states, AI’s limited capacities can become unlimited when it’s being puppeteered by AI OG, and in many respects the same holds true for humans. Steve Jobs is considered by many as one of the most tasteful creatives in modern history, but his technical capabilities weren’t as strong as his proficiencies. Without the hands-on effort of his programmers and Wozniak, would you be reading this on your iPhone or Mac? In today’s world, that same mind that envisioned Apple’s product line wouldn’t be confined to his programming deficiencies. With his surplus of AI OG, just enough vibe coding can proliferate a lot of his visions to production ready software. But AI by itself would never have the ingenuity to hand craft any of those visions, but with AI OG jockeying it, the cutting edge now becomes reachable.
Think about how many Steve Jobs the world has had to offer that have all share similar qualities and characteristics to what made Jobs an icon, but also shared similar deficiencies to him as well. Now, they can forge their imagination into meaningful innovations without funding, a network, or anything but a device with WI-FI. Ultimately though, vibe coding is just scratching the surface on just how AI + AI OG can make the impossible, possible.
Think about a well-versed biologist who has a lightbulb for a new chemical formula that can disrupt modern medicine. Given that he’s been in biotech for most of his life and doesn’t have a robust enough education in chemistry or pharmaceuticals, without the help of experts or years and years of rigorous studying, he likely won’t ever have the chops needed to bring his vision to life. However, his abundance of AI OG could be just enough to supply AI with the guidance necessary to foster that formula and walk the biologist through the entirety of the process.
We’re in an age of anti-intellectualism, and the most obvious resolution is greater accessibility to more information. Inherently, that’s what AI is, just 3D. Rather than reading books on chemistry to become a chemist, I can have a personalized, free, always-with-me tutor who gives me curated guidance daily and is smart enough to turn my ambitions into creative breakthroughs.
Gen AI already is to blame for lots of critical socioeconomic and environmental complications, but with CapEx continuing to expand by the billions, AI is only going to become more omnipresent. So perhaps the next frontier of golden-age innovation can be one where AI and AI OG are in constant harmony, working together to tackle the world’s biggest problems through landmark solutions. But what do I know? I’m just a 24-year-old with ambitions that outsize my tax bracket who still needs to use Grammarly on pieces like these.
